which 10" sub to use in IB application?

Wanting to give my wife a better system for Christmas.

She has a convertible, it has a cutout behind the rear seat for a 10" sub.

The trunk airspace is just over 8 cubes

What would be my best bet for a value / high output sub to use?

I have way more power than I can use for this app so that is not a concern.

under $150 would be a plus.

Thank you!

Is there any way to make the hole bigger? If so, id look into putting the largest driver possible. As for IB subs. Any SSA line would do well

Unfortunately there is not, being it is a convertible it has little room. My next plan is to cutout a bunch of metal and get 2 - 10"s in there but that is a last resort. My wife loves her car and would have a panic attack watching me slice out the front of the trunk.

What I hope is to find 1 - 10" that at least gives a decent output. The front doors are setup to use the 6.5' as sub drivers and I haven't played with those at all.

Most folks use a lot more cone area for IB. The main issue being you'll run a small sub into mechanical limits very quickly in a "box" that size.

Generally speaking you'll want a sub that has a low Fs and a Qts over .6 (.707 being considered "optimum"). Definitely pick something with high excursion if at all possible.

The catch being AFAIK it's mostly 15 and 18" woofers that are purpose built for IB applications since the common use would be to throw them into a ceiling or wall of a house for home theater. Fi makes a 12" IB sub but they're out of your budget.

Shop around partsexpress and see if Dayton or some other well reviewed brand has a 10" with adequate specs.

I'd also suggest considering these: https://www.parts-express.com/aurasound-ast-2b-4-pro-bass-shaker-tactile-transducer--299-028 those mounted firmly to the seats + some good midbass drivers in the kicks/doors works quite well in convertible or other applications where you want to feel the low bass but subwoofer in box is impractical.
