What Would This Do In A Sub Enclosure?

If someone built a standard sealed enclosure and then covered the back inner wall of the enclosure with the type of wedged foam used in recording studios and sound booths. It would be on the back wall only...roughly 12X12.

Let me hear your thoughts on what this would do to the overall sound quality, output, or whatever you feel like mentioning.

I've heard people lay sound deadener in the box before, but not that foam stuff.

That bumpy foam stuff is used quite commonly in home theater builds... I'm not quite sure what it does...

Breaks up standing waves. Not much use in a car sub application because the frequency range of the enclosure is way on the low end but in a home setup where the woofers play into the lower midrange, it can help keep standing waves from coloring the sound from the driver.

So...basically you think it's going to do nothing positive OR negative....interesting.

It will provide a small amount of resistive damping, the difference will be measureable, but probably not audiable.
