Yeah but like you said if your down for a wood weekend project, just pick up a sheet of MDF and build yourself a nice ported box and not that prefab (if it is one).

Work that guy down as much as you can. Maybe snatch 'em for 90$ lol. But yeah, they should be noticeably louder, even sealed just due to moving more air. (surface area)

Then, if you still find yourself wanting the extra ~3db, build yourself a to spec, ported box.

Also, since you are on a stock H/U, this could be a reason for the sub to get quieter as you turn up the volume. Some have a feature that boosts low end on lower volumes and reduces it at higher volumes to protect stock speakers. Just food for thought if the problem persists with the CVR's.

i actually just found a pair through a friend for like $110-120 in the kicker ported box, which im sure works better than the sealed cheapo box will, so taht seems like a better deal..

i only listen full volume for the most part LOL, so ill set the amp up to run best at full volume.. judging by the other speakers in the car the head unit isnt slowin down on bass LOL

Honestly, I'd get your friends. You can trust him more than the stranger, you save yourself 30$ building materials and some labor.

Also, if you end up wanting sealed, it's alot easier to build a sealed box than a ported for a first time thing.

ps - the guy sellin the sealed ones i knw, but sometimes its better NOT to know people LOL.. he is on the same level of trust as a stranger.. both will let me hook up the speakers in my car first

Ported will add output and efficiency, depending on what the ported box is tuned to, it can add output at the most common rap bass ranges, However, sealed is a safer bet, though not as rewarding for that type of loud music as a Properly Built Ported Box.

Properly build to spec is in need of emphasis.

ps - ported box is kicker one tuned to 38

guy is a lil shaky on sellin it, but i can probably get it he needs a lil money
