i have an old MTX 2150x pushin a old school round solo baric right now.. 4 ohm..

the solo baric is in probably a .7-.8 c/ft box

right now the amp can only be about 1/4 power before the sub starts really movin and basically the sound goes away if that makes sense.. ... part of me thinks its in too small of a box, i think these like a lil over a cft? like 1.33 if i remember right?

not sure if that would solve my issues..

anyways.. i would like to atleast get this amp workin again. i used to have it on some pioneer 12s back in the day, sounded nice..

whats a good budget sub, or subs for this amp in your eyes? im running it with stock deck in a daily driver car, i am budgeted because of money and the fact taht im basically just trying to get the most outta the amp i have now, cant afford to buy another one..

what do you guys think?

A) 1 nice 12"?

B) pair of decent 10s?

C) build new box for the kicker?

if you suggest new equipment let me know what subs you are thinking.. i almost picked up a couple 12" CVRs last nigth off craigslist for $100 in a sealed box... im sure with the RMS im pushing there wouldnt be a huge difference between sealed and ported, or wuold there?

option 4 is to trade a guy my solo baric + $20 for a diamond D4 12 in a sealed box.. about 1.5cft

im also tryin to get a 4300x locally off a guy LOL.. i love these old underpowered amps!

i figured 500 rms as well or close atleast

diamond is not good in sealed box
Then build a ported box.. And to the op if you just take the sealed box and drill a fat hole in it for a port i will slap you.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

those cvrs would have been a good deal at 100$...it has been my experience that when sending less than rms, you should port the box to optimize output...i generally only run sealed when im pushing full rms

lol im not gonna just drill a hole haha...

maybe i should get the diamond and make a ported box.. i could use a lil weekend wood project LOL... not really..

i know nothing of ported vs sealed, i havent been into subs and all taht for atleast 10 years..

so the D4 is a decent sub? its an older model

I don't know a single thing about Diamond Audio so i can't help you there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

generally Ported = more SPL

Sealed is more SQ. But it really depends on the sub and other factors.

guy text messaged me with the CVRs again.. might get those for $100 and sell my sub for what i can get for it.. for a low powered sub it hits NICE.. like 200 watts RMS into this tiny box makes NICE bass.. tight and clean
