What sub goes with Hard Rock/Metal

I was told that 10" subs would be a better bet than 12" for music listening in the hard rock genre because it will pronounce the Double-Bass better. Is this true?

I really don't want to end up with the subs that the people who wanna look cool get and all they do is shake everything and **** up the song. I want something deep but accurate. I don't know much about subs so hit me.

its not true, a good sub any size in the right box will do rock and rap equally well.

i think the Dayton H.O. 10 is the most accurate sounding sub you can get for the money!

the size itself has nothing to do with the sound. an 18" can sound just as tight as a 10". it's all in the T/S specs of the driver and the box you put it in.

Ok. I really don't want to make my own box though so ill probably try to get one with a box already. is that bad lol. What should i look for in the box specs? also will it be better to get 2 subs or just 1. Like i said i don't need a lot out of the subs and will be the last thing i install.

if your going to go sealed then getting an already built mass produced box isn't so bad. just make sure it's the proper size and built strong. but if you want to use a ported box then make sure it's built to the right specs(size, port area, and tuning).

a single ten ported on 600 watts is more than enough for me. sometimes you can get plenty of bass in a somewhat small package.
