What speaker brand for SQL

^^^^^ I love the CDT es-6 mids, but they lack midbass vs focal or ID or even some raw driver like Aurum Cantus,Scan Speak,SEAS, even DaytonThe tonality of the es-6 is one of best i have heard.

SQL is subjective.

If i where to buy a good comp set i would look into Helix,Hertz, maybe HAT.

Morel & Dynaudio is hard to beat as well..

Placement, aiming, tuning, deadening will play a great or even greater part in your sound stage.

What amp will you be using???

Massive audio has been getting great reviews lately.

Please stay away from Rockford lower to middle line of speakers.

What type of music do you listen too???

oh Rainbow higher line of speakers are great, but well above your budget.

Are you adding a sub???
The amp i will use is all depending on what speakers i go with(rms,#channels, etc.)

I listen to a mix of everything, but mainly rap, decaf, dubstep, dj, rock, and metal

I have 2 Fi Q 12s in my trunk

edit: Here's what ive gathered so far: i really like focals, but the prices and active crossovers are scaring me away, i was really interested in hertz(hsk165xl) unitl i found out that i cant buy them online unless from a dealer so i dont know what to do there, and i really like HAT because they make door mounts for my car (00' bmw 528i) which is an e39, the door mounts are also offered at a reduced price for a package deal with HAT speakers, so what i like right now is getting a HAT clarus 6.5" component system and being able to get the door mounts made for my car to adapt a 6.5" to the 5.25" stock mounts, that will make everything a whole easier considering im very new to speakers but i want such high quality

Hard to beat the clarus for the money. Feed each side a good 200 and they will sing. They are the only passive front stage setup I would even consider unless I had 1000 bucks to blow on some dynaudio sets. I ran a set of hertz hsk's in my last setup and I was not that impressed.

hey PureSound.

Did look into deadener yet?

Sundown, zed,Zuki or Hertz amps are a good choice that is if you want expand you system later on in life.

Before you buy premade comps setup, have you thought about going the DIY way???

I have not looked into deadener, simply because i dont understand its purpose when it comes to small speakers in door

i was thinking about this JL Audio JX360/2 2-channel car amplifier — 110 watts RMS x 2 - Features & Specs at Crutchfield.com

what do u mean about the DIY way?

wat... you want to spend 500 on some speakers but not interested in deadening...

Diy means buying speakers from madisound or parts express and piecing a system together.. building crossovers if thats what it takes.

get deadening fool...

yah the $500 price tag is scaring me away, im actually leaning towards the imagine series now, only $250 i think, what is deadening going to do and how does it do what it does? the reason im not interested is b/c to my limited knowledge deadening only prevents rattle, also what do u guys think about the imagine series?

The morel maximo are comparable yo the hertz hsk ,but way cheaper. I suggest you get something like the imagines and use the left over money to seal and deaden your doors the right way. he imagines are amazing spekers for the money, bu no speaker can show i's tue poential without a proper install.

Best post so far, that makes a lot of sense and i agree with getting the imagines and ill do some research on the whole sound deadening thing, btw i am going up to my local car audio guy and he is a small business guy who likes the DIY-er, so in short he's very real compared to other car audio places who just want a profit and hardly no wtf they r talking about, so im gonna talk to him about Everything and get his opinion of what all i need to do b/c i also need to get a head unit along with the speakers and an amp for them, my friend and i will be installing all of it, but i also want to get his advice and tips for the install, and btw i drive a 00' bmw 528i, so in general my car is very quiet compared to some other cars, so could one of u tell me what the sound deadener is going to do? is it going to just reduce exterior noise? i know ill definitely get some for my trunk lid which rattles like a muthafugga, but what will it do for the door speakers, and where am i putting it? the video someone posted was only for the trunk and the inside of the car to reduce road noise not enhance the speakers in any way

good luck at the local audio shop, none of the ones in my town know crap about stereos especially good brands. All most of them know about is mainstream products that are overpriced and don't perform as well as alot of smaller company's per price comparison. Also there is a whole stickeid thread on here about sound deadning
