what should i look for when buying subs?

what should i be looking for i see some subs that have a high peak power but a low rms.

ive been looking on http://www.futureshop.ca or http://www.bestbuy.ca

could u guys show me some good powerful subs and explain why they are better

i am only wanting to buy from these stores so only explain products they have to me.

Root Mean Square (RMS) is what a driver can handle continuously. Peak power handling is simply what the driver is capable of for short periods of time.

Peak power is instantaneous peak wattage, aka not sustained. It means nothing. Its a marketing gimmick.
