What should I look for in a head unit?

I'm in the market for a new head unit. I am just looking for good SQ and functionality. I am sorta oblivious to what stuff like "Advanced Sound Engine", "Center Speaker Optimizer", and "High-Pass filter" means and how important it is.

So what are the main things I should be looking for?
