What should i get?

I have 2 pioneer 12's that really arent that great. i got the system for my birthday so im not complaining. They sound good. but im just looking to get a louder set up. i dont have to worry about the speaker or anything because i already had surround sound bose and a touch screen deck. i was just wondering and taking in any ideas of a nice but on the cheaper end of a set up. i was thinking about the new kicker comp r's that come in a box already for like 400 bucks. or the older kicker comps. but im open to any ideas that wont break my bank.

Well for 500 you could have two ia I series 10s and a ia 5.1 amp but the reall question is

1. What kind of box? Custom, prefabricated, size, and tuning?

2. Is the budget for just subs or sub and amp?

3. What are your goals? Sound quality, sound quality loud, or spl

4. Are u willing to buy used?

5. What equipment do you have? I know touch screen and factory crap but what amp and what wiring?

Just about every prefabricated box is junk and factory loaded boxes are mostly junk

That kicker box is a good example. Those subs realistically need 1 3/4 times the box size to perform right. And the ported box is tuned for 46hz. Good boxes are usually tuned in the 30-38hz range unless u want a one note wonder box for competing.

Depending on your amp I would recommend a pair of infinity reference 12s in a sealed box. With 6-800w combined they will sound amazing and get decently loud

i was thinking about a package that has an amp and 2 compVR's. i dont really want the box it comes with tho i want a ported one becasue i hear that they are better for rap and i dont need all the hardware it comes with.

You mean 2 dual 4 ohm wired down to 1 ohm?

I would get 2 D4's to wire down to 1 ohm. But you could have Dual 2's and keep them wired at 2 ohms or wire to .5 ohm if you had a .5 ohm stable amp. I'm pushing 800 RMS to my single D2 Threatcon 2 and I've had no issues whatsoever.

I'd look for an amp that puts out around 1500rms at 1 ohm for those woofers too.

Definitely. Hard to find a good amp that puts out that power though. I just ordered 4 of these woofers and a Lanzar OPTI4001D... and an alpine mrx m240 to see which one I like better. The lanzar does 4k rms at .5ohm stable. Also ordered a new poker table, craps table, cards, chips, and auto shuffler.. hopefully start winning some money against my buddies!

if you have money, get some gcons.. I have 4 of those walled in a 90 b2200 truck, and they murder the lows.

You will be disappointed with either. Read around, kicker is no good. If you must, cvrs.
