DC has my vote, the lvl 4 with lvl 5 coils is an amazing sub, more effecient as well. give one 1000-1500wrms and it will sing.

ive got an hdc312 tuned to 38 hz. it plays music well and it still hits the lows. now its not gonna hit them like a box tuned to 32 hz will but it still gets low. there is a reason why most people with AQs are tuned to 37-40 hz.

I have the AQ and I love it, it hits the lows well enough for me. And sounds very well on rock music. I wouldn't tune below 35, 36 with them though.

I also have about 2000 watts pushing thru mine and it takes it just fine.

What do you have for the electrical part of your car? Because that should be discussed before talking about either of these subs for they require some sort of upgrade usually imo.

Damm fine question. I heard of one guy in my area running the DCs. I haven't heard his setup, but i believe he won a trophy in one show we did. The HDCs I know what they are capable of. Thorshammer has run both, but I believe he was using some 10s though. I think it's worth it to ask him. I think Pioneersaturn has used both as well.

They got a little hot and stinky after a few songs full tilt but a smaller box would have taken care of that. The lows were amazing and it was overall a great sounding sub. Now I have the XLs and they seem to be louder to the ear so far and handle the power much much better but don't sound as good. I'll be trying them in a different box soon so we'll see. But to the OP, you can't go wrong either way. I've had a few DC setups and have heard a bunch of AQ setups and they've all been loud and sound pretty good. Rusty from DC is one of the best when it comes to customer service so I keep coming back to DC.

if you mostly listen to new rap then I'd tune the AQ to 35Hz, otherwise 38Hz does very well for all around music and getting loud.

KHARPS old set up hit very well on the lows as I've heard his set up a few times. Should hear the new subs in a few weeks.

Both are solid subs and DJ at AQ has always provided excellent CS and it seems that Rusty does also.

I would not tune AQ's lower than 38hz. But to the OP, Both subs are great. I have experience with the AQ's and i love mine. But it looks like the DC fits you more suitably if you are going to tune low.

Never heard a DC, but my AQs are the sh*t. I tuned mine to about 36 hz and they hit the lows, don't let the tuning scare you. Plus the DC in price is just crazy to me, but maybe if I could get one used I might. AQ gets my vote, and it's cheaper.

are you really sure that the dc price is crazy lol tell me if you never heard of dc where did you find the price in my book the dc is a great value and are great subs.

Nobody said they weren't great subs but for the money AQ is the better sub, period. Name a sub you can get that can take 2k of clean watts for around 275?
