im using 3 JLw3v1's 10'' sealed now and its a little too punchy n doesnt perform as well as i would like it to on the lows. im thinking about switching to a ported 12'' type R. what differences, improvements, and loses should i expect from the type R?

Do you have the space to port those JL's? Also what size box are the JL's in right now and what type of car?

One Type R in a good ported box tuned low would probably be more of what you are looking for, are those the older W3's I assume? If those are the newer W3's then I would say to port two of them if possible but the older W3's I would replace with the type R in a good slot ported box like this.

yes they are the older models. yea i was thinking of going slot port in about 2.0-2.2 CF and tuned to 30hz.
