what screws u guys use

im sure its been talked about but im a little under the weather and i dont wana go threw all the threads . if i use some dry wall screws to screw down my sub is that ok or should i use regular wood screws? my second question is a little silly is it ok to screw the sub down and have the screw go threw the wood and go threw the wood all the way lets say less then a half inch or so? i dont want the wood to split there is no dubble baffle if any one has any tips or tricks let me know. thanks

i use deckmate from home depot on 3/4" mdf
the box is 5/8 its kinda making me feel iffy ya know. im gona go with 4 kicker 12inch cvrs i wana make sure they screw down and stay down. is it ok to go all the way threw the wood? i was thinking mayb i could use some kind of epoxy or somthing around the hole and under where the screws will go to better help from cracking.

You could simply drill pre-hole (i guess there's another word for that) not too big (let's say 1/2 the diameter of the screws) to prevent the wood from cracking (I assume you did that anyway to build the box itself) and you could add some locktite to thoses screws (I never tested that but my logic tell's me it could help even if it's in wood instead of metal threads)

Correct me if im wrong but we're talking about a few grams of locktite and what about all the moisture in the wood glue when assembling the box ? And the one in the sillicone sealant?

I use whatever orange/black box at home depot is in 1 1/4, I they're drywall screws to hold the subs down. I use 1 5/8 drywall screws for the handfull of boxes I have built and I use a tool that drills a hole and countersinks it for you and then I run a normal drill bit to make the hole a little deeper. This method yeilds no splitting.

I hope your box is super braced if its only 5/8mdf and you're running 4 12s.
