What is wrong with Employees?

I find no difference in an employee pretending to dust a sing, surfing the net, or taking my wallet.
Sweeping the concrete aisles is still something productive for the company.
I guess you have never dusted a concrete aisle. There is a reason it is only done at night unless you are wasting time.

Well, keep the conversation going...
I'm going to go watch Death Wish V.... Charles Bronson kicking ***!

I want to do some reading when I get back.

My dad is also watching the marathon. Since only you argued with me, I guess I'll go back to doing homework.

You can block them from viewing the internet except for specific sites...

Or block specific sites...

It's not very hard...

The middle-ground here is the use of an effective manager. A good manager can motivate an employee to emphatically sweep that sign in 5 minutes and move on to a different sign after that. A good manager can provide enough autonomy that the employee can identify areas of improvement or higher efficiency or streamlining or whatever cool corporate word you want to use.

However, a good manager may never be able to do anything with a shitty employee. The honus for good, quality work must, in the end, fall on the employee.

Duh...

10 Sites they go to, some of them change weekly, only one person can change them, 4 stores, 10 computers.

Not worth it, we shouldn't have to babysit anyway...

Agreed with the first part....uncertain about the second part....but there must be some kind of incentive for the employee to not be shitty. It's not always pay. Sometimes it's the manager providing relevance to the work they do. Me, I like to slay dragons. We have big, huge issue that wastes a ton of money...I try to find a better way to accomplish it cheaper. That is a personal accomplishment for me and it matters to me. My boss sometimes lets me run with such dragon slaying missions.

I agree with this as well. There must be incentive and the employee must be worth a shit. They go hand in hand. I know I never took any job seriously until I was made manager. But I got lucky on that note that because my manager was even more worthless.
