would you recommend a fully loaded btl 18" dual 1 ohm be played a .5ohm instead of 2 ohms?
so its all in the amp?Depends if the amp can handle it...
agreed. the sound q from .5 compared to 2 will be negligible. just get what ever amp you want, as long as it does it's power at either .5 or 2 ohms. 2 ohms will give you far more optionsDepends if the amp can handle it...
what will it put out at 1/2 ohmnopethere will be no difference
just more current being pulled
a sundown 3000d would probably be perfect
your late its been stated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifIndependence.

no. the sub gets wattage. ohms is just a resistance.so running it at 1/2 ohm wont result in extra stress to the sub as long as the amp can handle it?
ok. thanks for every one that helpedno. the sub gets wattage. ohms is just a resistance.
best answer ever.Sundown 3000D or RD 3250.1 will probably do at or in excess of 34-3500 rms at .5 ohms with a decent electrical.
Your amplifier can play at certain ohmloads, for example that Sundown is .5 ohm capable while other amplifiers will only play down to 1ohm.
Depending upon which amplifier you want, you buy the woofer to match where the amplifier does the most power.
Dual 1ohm woofer. You can wire the woofer to .5ohm or 2ohm. This means that you can buy an amplifier that does it's power at .5 or 2ohm. It's not going to stress the woofer any more running it either way, and it's not going to have a difference in output or sound quality. The voicecoil configuration is only for wiring options.
And if the amp will run .5, then that's fine - just back it up electrically. Question is, really, if you run 3500w from a Sundown at .5ohm, the amp will handle it(look around and read reviews) but what you need to make sure is that the woofer can handle that much power daily.
You need to match the amplifiers RMS output to that of the woofers and match it up as you feel necessary. That BTL would be happy on 2500w RMS. Many ways to go that route as well. Hope it helped a little bit?
