what guage should i use for 2 amps?

o.k i have a rockford fosgate 550x 4 channel amp and a rockford fosgate 500bd. i currently only have the 550x installed in my car with a 4 guage cable coming from the battery. when i decide to install the 500bd should i use the 4 guage cable thats currently hooked up to the 550x and have it go to a distribution block and then use 8 guage going into the 550x and 500bd or should i replace the 4 guage with a 2 guage coming from the battery and then have it go through a distribution block and have it split out to the 2 amps useing 4 gauge? i'm still a newbie on this so any help would be appreciated. thanks
