The most common culprit from engine noise is not the remote lead, but your RCAs.

eh its got to be the rem lead because when i pinch the connection the noise stops..

What I’m thinking is that you have a bad connection that rubs on the terminal. When you pinch it, it causes a solid, non-moving connection that eliminates the noise. Too little insulation will not cause a problem unless you mean that the insulation is stripped from a certain point and bare wire is touching the terminal. I’m pretty sure I know what you're saying but I’m not 100%.

And to AzGrower, I completely understand where you are coming from. I do not take you as an ***, just someone who is confident in what they say. When I comment on something you say I am not necessarily trying to prove you wrong, just trying to either show a different side of an argument or trying to stimulate intelligent conversation/debate over a disputed or misunderstood opinion.

yeah basically the REM terminal is a little metal square with a tiny hole in the middle so I just weaved the wired through the hole and put a rubber cap over it but its obviously not done very strategically... Fosgate said in the Amps manual that they provided a cap for the terminal but I dont have it.. would it be something I can find in HomeDepot you figure? A female connector someone suggested Im not positive if thats the exact thing RF supplies with their amp and im not sure if its made to fit the REM terminal

You can find this at any automotive or hardware store it is called a female quick disconnect.

The RF remote terminal blade is a the standard size so a regular one will fit.
