If you haven't already do the big 3 in 1/0 (CCA should be fine). Depending on your alt size you may need a secondary battery in the back. RAM_Designs sells C&D 300MR's for right around $100 shipped. One of those paired with your red top should be more than good.

Nope so long as the voltage is relatively similar. i.e. you can't wire a 16v battery to a 12v.
