what does the frequency knob do?

you idiot. people mis-state what they have all the time. trying to clarify exactly what he has shouldn't be a problem with you, you gullable moron. killing yourself would be a benefit to human kind.
Why kill myself? So people with such pathetic IQs like your's could take over. No thank you. I guess you were never the sharpest tool in the shed. A world in which the word "frequency" is spelled out infront of you and still don't know if it's talking about "frequency" is just horrifying. Obviously he knew it was talking about "frequency", but you didn't and thought it might be gain or bass boost. Now that is sad. The words don't even look the same.

your gullableness is just unreal. i'm surprised you didn't take my advice and kill yourself. oh well, i tried to rid the world of some stupidity. now, go forth and thin out the gene pool a little.

But its also not healthy to let your subs play frequencies above a certain point because they were not meant to play them. So i always took it that you set it so it doesn't go above that point, which differs with the size of subwoofer.
Like I said though, this is just what I was told.
Apparently you need to forget everything you were told, because so far none of it has been accurate.

Gullableness? Please explain. I don't think there is such a word. You might be looking for gullability though. I already admitted earlier to being wrong and am trying to expand my knowledge while yours steadily decreases from just hearing yourself blabber on. But you still can't avoid the fact that you need to go back and take some elementary school reading courses so you will recognize the word "frequency" when you see it. Or perhaps you just need glasses, i don't know. Thats not my problem.

Now I wouldn't go that far. I never said I was right. Part of the reason why I joined was to expand my knowledge, but I would like for you to elaborate because you haven't given me any information to say that there is no frequency that isn't good for your subs. For instance, I always thought it wasn't good to hear the actual voices coming through the sub. (Just for the record, I'm being serious and not an @$$.)

You could let your subs play full range, up to 20khz. It will sound like ****, and I wouldnt recommend running them above 80hz for many acoustical reasons, but it wont hurt the speakers in any way.

There is more than one frequency knob, idiot. Subsonic filters control frequency. Highpass, lowpass, bandpass filters control frequency.

You fail.

As to the OP, if you are using this amp for subs, set the switch to the right of the frequency knob to LPF and set the knob to ~80hz. This knob controls at which point your equipment will begin to stop playing frequencies above (LPF) or below (HPF) what the knob is set to.

Yeah, I went back and talked to the person I had talked to before and appearantly I miss interpreted him. He said "It isn't bad for the subs, it will just distort however. On the other hand, if you try to make a speaker play lower than it should it is not healthy for the speaker/sub because it will try to excur more than it is meant to."

But how many of those knobs just say "frequency?" I know all about HPF, LPF, etc. Your not telling me anything new. But he didn't ask what the "LPF Frequency/filter" knob or "HPF Frequency/filter" knob do. He asked what the "frequency" knob does and yall were being an @$$ to the guy because yall couldn't figure out what he was asking when it stated it directly in his topic name.

you know trying to sound smart on ca.com is not going to get you anywhere fast. im talkin to you bruizer
I'm not trying to sound smart. I don't see how in any way my statements have tried to sound smart at all. The only thing I did was point out a word that a guy was calling me that doens't even exist, kinda like in Scrabble.

well.....you're the perfect person to chime in on shit then. have you even researched the op's original question?
Yes, "What does the frequency knob do?" And I told him that it was used as a frequency cutoff except I was only talking in terms of LPF and forgot to mention HPF. By the way, just because you won't to learn more about something doesn't mean you don't already know alot about it. Seriously. Example, I'm a Hstory Major in college. I already know more than the average person does about history, yet I still take more history classes because there is always something you can still learn. (And before yall say anything, that is not an attempt to sound smart, that was purely an example supporting my statement about learning more in something you already have knowledge in.)

You're not going to know until you test with a meter. Typically even carpeting a box as opposed to painting is going to lose a few tenths.
