that is bad info i'm afraid. that setting depends on a lot of different factors. it depends on the box, the sub, personal taste etc.
But its also not healthy to let your subs play frequencies above a certain point because they were not meant to play them. So i always took it that you set it so it doesn't go above that point, which differs with the size of subwoofer.

Like I said though, this is just what I was told.

depends on the sub.....some subs play up to like 500htz or so

No, I sit at the computer 24/7 whacking off to gay porn smart guy...

Read your first post again. Your sentence makes no sense and it leaves out all details. You say "new" amp so then it would be logical to assume it's NOT the one in your sig. Your other thread seems to be just as retarded sounding.

Guys! Stop arguing. You didn't have to read his first post to figure out what he was asking! Try looking at the title "what does the frequency knob do?" Wow, that was easy.

except maybe to your ears...you might not like the sounds it produces in the higher range
Alright. Thanks for clearing that up for me. One more thing, say I have my frequency set from 20-80, what should I set my center to be, 50 or leave it at 40?

wrong. knobs work in different ways. some control gain. some control bass boost. some control crossover point.

Um...Lets see here. There is usually a knob that says Gain above it, one that says bass boost above it, and one that says FREQUENCY above it. I wonder which one he could be talking about. I mean, Frequency, gain, and bass boost are so easily mixed up.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Its just all I can do to keep from confusing frequency and gain all the time. They are just so much alike. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Whatever you say captain. I must live under a rock because I've never seen knobs that say "frequency gain"or "frequency bass boost".

you idiot. people mis-state what they have all the time. trying to clarify exactly what he has shouldn't be a problem with you, you gullable moron. killing yourself would be a benefit to human kind.

You're not going to know until you test with a meter. Typically even carpeting a box as opposed to painting is going to lose a few tenths.
