What do you think I should do?

What would you do?

I bought a car off ebay a few weeks ago. The seller had 100% positive feedback with around 40 transactions. We received the car last week and it turns out the car has been painted on the left side and the paint on the right side, trunk and top is "solvent popped". It looks like there are little pin holes all in the paint. The car was advertised as being in immaculate condition and the paint was "as glossy and smooth as the day it left the showroom floor". We contacted the seller today and my dad basically told him just to send $1,000 and it'd be fine...but the seller offered to buy the car back. He's going to call back either tomorrow or Wednesday to find out what we want to do.

If we send it back, it'll end up costing him $800 since he will have to pay to get it transported both ways.

Besides the paint, I love the car. It handles and rides great for what it is. I didn't want to send it back at first, but now I'm not really sure what I want to do.

Would you take the $1,000 or just send the car back?

I'd take the 1,000 and get a decent paint job man

It's better to just get a grand and paint it, rather than spend 800 to ship it back and not have anything to show for it

Oh, yeah, pics would be cool too

I'll get some pics uploaded tonight. I'm at work and I don't have the cable I need to hook the camera up. I'm leaning towards the $1K too...as long as his boss allows it, that's probably what I'm gonna do.

if the rest of the car is good, id take the 1000, get some car audio stuff.but if the seller lied about the paint, id check the car carefully.

Yeah but it's a lot of work that we'd probably end up doing most of ourselves.

It just pisses me off that there was paint on the gas cap and some how they didn't notice it.

Everything else seems to be ok.

It has a clean carfax and that's what he said he was going by when he sold it.

It's got a rear wheel bearing bad, but that's not a big deal. The paint is the only thing that bothers me.

Haha, get the money, get it painted then

Have any friends that are mechanics?

Or take it to a shop and have them fully inspect it, shouldn't cost more than 100 bucks, and in my eyes it's worth it

you cant see the paint from the inside but you can feel the bass, get the $1000 and go but a pair of qs and an ia20.1, you'll feel much better.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Not actually seeing the car before you buy it>you

Lesson learned, it's only material anyways

haha yeah I guess so.

My dad's a dealer so we've bought cars online at car auctions before without any problems. They all have condition reports though, so that helps out a lot.

Take the grand, put it into a new paintjob and a complete checkup and tuneup at a respectable mechanic, and maybe a new set of comps or woofer(s). A good car that looks bad is better than a bad car that looks good.
