only person i know who used to use a map was my grandfather in NC lol... no offense.

Age has nothing to do with it.

i have had my 3g almost a year and love it. the (free) google app is amazing - voice activated. while we were on vacation driving around in key west last winter i just opened it up, spoke the name of something we saw that was interesting and got all the info on it like phone number, rates (for hotels), directions, etc. phone numbers pop up in every instance applicable and 1 touch later i am talking to them.

another (free) one called fuzzyshot has saved me hours. i work in real estate and drive about 45k a year and part of my job entails taking photos of houses. i just open the app, take a pic of the house and it instantly uploads it to a web page (http://www.fuzzyshot.com/username). i have found it to be very useful. i have a friend who uses it to take pics everyday of his baby to share with family and friends.

visual voicemail kicks ***.

gps is ok but there are better versions available.

camera quality is far superior to any previous cell i had and i usually get a new one at least once every 12 months if not more, so i have had a lot of them.

like the commercial says, no matter what you want there is an app for that. incorporating the tilt into games makes them a lot more fun to play. games are rivaling psp and better with more being created everyday. useful apps like a mortgage calculator, flashlight, iheartradio, remote control, flixster, etc are very handy to have in your pocket.

i do have some complaints. keeping the screen clean is a pain in the ***. the continuing lack of mms support sucks, but that is an at&t problem now. battery life could be better but i have a compatible hu that charges it in the car. lack of flash support on sarafi blows. no video (3g) is stupid as well but at least they finally gave the danm thing streaming bt.

Obviously I do not use a map for places in my town. But if I am on vacation with a girl, then yes, that is exactly what I do.

I love the iphone all my life i've been waiting for a gadget just like this..

Growing up I had all kinds of PDAs like Casiopeia and HP Ipaq and none of them cut the mustard..

The iphone rocks...

People who spend time talking shit about Apple or the iPhone are ****ing pathetic and may as well just off themselves..

then you are sad for no reason other than being wrong. calculating a mortgage by hand is a requirement of my job and part of the state test that is needed to gain certification.

Maybe your iphone fail is because of you. I've had mine since January and it's fine. A couple of lags here and there, but nothing worth taking it back to the store for.
But I think it's a nice device. I don't spend hours and hours downloading apps and making sure everyone sees it but it does what I need it to do. I wanted something that would consolidate my blackberry and ipod touch. my 3G does that. I actually use mine for work related stuff and it fits the bill.

Ya, buttons fall off within 10 days on the average I also use mine for work. Dont blame me the little chinks building these cant do a half decent job at it

My iPhone 3G is my 4-year-olds favorite toy. He has a gene disorder (SMS) which is basically a cross between down-syndrome and autism and my phone is in his hands the second I get home form work (6 pm) until we go to bed (10pm-1am). I've had my iPhone since January and my iPod Touch since March 2008 and they both work flawlessly. I couldn't possibly imagine how one would break considering the torture my phone goes through daily.

the glue holding the button let go. Not an uncommon problem, really, if you research it The rest is software, which your little tard child cant effect.

The map function does not work if you dont have service (like much of the upper midwest). That is a big ole +1 to the map.

Not blaming you for beating the shit out of your phones. I just find it hard to believe you went through 3 of them and still "upgraded to the S model". Where I'm from you would not have been eligible for an upgrade that soon so you would have had to pay full price for it. So if that is true, you actually do like the device. Easily you could have sold it and bought a regular phone.
