Well, I have 3 3g's laying around here (wife, her daughter and myself all had them and upgraded to the s model)
And there are definatly some pro's and cons..
The apps are great, can make the phone do about anything you may need. If you whine that "you have a laptop, blah blah blah"... great. carry that laptop around with you, and ill carry my phone. we can see which is less burdensome
Apple sackriders AND haters all fail badly. Its a **** phone, no more, no less. There is ALWAYS a better phone, and a worse one. It really depends on what you want/need in a phone.
Battery life is a joke on both the 3g and the 3gs (although the s is marginally better). This also depends on how much you use aformentioned apps, browse the net, etc, as well as where your screen brightness is set at, how long till screen shutoff, etc. but overall, it just sucks. non replaceable batts ****. this can however be helped by those portable chargers (run off rechargeable batts) I keep one nearby almost all the time.
No insurance is GAY. Apple "genius bar" is a ******* JOKE. im not waiting 3 fuckin days for you to look at my phone and tell me its broke.
Build quality/hardware and software reliability should be a lot better than it is. Ive been through 3 iphone 3g's, still on my first 3gs, however its only been a few days with it... List of phone probs-
phone one lasted 10 days. the ringer silencer FELL OFF. fucking fell off within 10 days. not acceptable. go to att get a replacement (within the first 30 days you can go to att and deal with it, after that you MUST go to apple store)
phone 2 lasted an additional 3 months. locked up one day using aim (screen went COMPLETLY white, hard reset wouldnt do anything, plugging it in wouldnt do anything, calling it did nothing, apple store couldnt fix it. was replaced.)
third phone touchscreen stopped responding. had to replace the digitizer i believe it was.
Now I have my 3gS, and its working, however, when playing music it will simply stick and stop playing music randomly. need to wait for it to stop showing the "play" icon by the batt icon, and restart it. its not a problem with the music, as its different songs, different amount of play times. its the **** phone.
Overall, its a very cool concept, but its executed very poorly. If winblows mobile was better I would switch, however.. that whole operating system is a massive POS.
