OK, im sure some of you are familar with the prolem i have, for those that dont, here goes.

My subs keep cutting in and out when i first got my system installed. At first it was just cutting out for 5 secs and it would hit again, but after a while it slowly got worse. I got to the point where my subs would play, then it cuts out completely until i turn my car off for about 30mins and when i turn back on my car the subs would work.

Since i got my 500/1 on ebay, JL wont warranty my amp so I found a authorized JL dealer nice enough to send in my 500/1 to get a new circuit board.

After i got my new amp back, i thought problem solved.

The new amp worked fine for about 2 weeks until recently i notice my subs cut out for 5 secs and comes back and it happens constantly.

I took it back to the shop and they did all sorts of testings. They checked if all the wiring was plugged in right etc. They even tested a 10w7 powered by the 500/1 and it didnt cut out once. So they wired back my subs and it never cut out, the only thing they changed was new speaker wires so i thought ok cool problem solved again. Until later on tonight when my subs start cutting in and out again.

I have no idea where the problem could be, could it be the wiring? or is my altenator causing spikes? or could it be the amp again?

how about rewiring your electrical system. redo your power wire. redo your ground. redo your remote. problem solved. yes there is an easier way of fixing it but i wouldnt go through all that trouble. i didnt bother trying to find what went wrong. my amp was still seeing 12+ volts prior to the rewiring but still would not turn on so i said **** it and rewired the whole car correctly.

Big 3 done? Plus like dleccord suggested it wouldn't be a bad idea rewiring the whole system with a bigger gauge cables. Since u said when they switched the speaker cables it helped alot. What size power/ground cables u using to hook up the JL 500/1 ? Cuse I know the JL amps draw alot of current for no reason.

yeah they do draw a lot of power. no matter where the gains were set, my amp[500/1] still did not turn on in my case. if you are in no hurry then play around a little bit more. if anything i would suggest you redo your ground. possibly relocate and sand it to bare metal.

If it was my grounds, wouldnt this problem occur when i first hooked up my amp? Why would it take 2 weeks to affect my subs cutting in/out. Anyway i have 4awg power and ground wiring.

of course not. i had the same problem like you after i had the amp installed for about a week.

Im seriously thinking its the wiring thats causing this problem.

What are the chances even after a brand new curcuit board is put in that the problem occurs again.

Or is my altanator causing spikes?
