I still haven't had a chance to test the voltage when it cuts but when I got to work today I decided to test the ohms while it was in protect mode at the speaker terminals on the amp.
While the red light was on, I was getting a 'normal' reading of 1.7-2.0. But when the protect light was off, I was getting a reading of 1.1-1.5.
I don't know if that means anything at all, just thought I would give any and all info I can. My amp is only 2 ohm minimum stable. So even though I still can't rule out voltage drop as the culprit, if what I got as a reading means anything then wouldn't that point more towards to low of an ohm load is causing it to protect?
And if so, why would my sub that is wired to 2 ohms be playing so far below 2 ohms? I understand that it will drop below 2 at times but not enough to cause the amp to go into protect. If that is indeed the case. Bad voice coil?
