Theres not much to think about lol. Honostly you will have a hellish time fitting 32 12's in an astro van ported. Look at the basic rules of a ported box vs sealed box.
Ported - Peaks at a frequency
Sealed- Has a good frequency response all around
Bass race - Your average
Ported - More room per sub
Sealed - Less room per sub
Astrovan - Very hard to get 32 ported 12" subs
Ported - Hard design to get right
Sealed - Idiot Proof
Ported - Bad things can happen if not designed properly like back pressure and such
Sealed - Nothing wrong with it as far as a simple design goes
There are more than enough people over at Termpro that would help him out with a design.Chevy you dont want someone with no Bandpass experience spending thousands on 4 18's because if they get it off shit will be bad. Subs blowing up and all.
thats why people who compete in bassrace usually pick their song out beforehand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifOf course you do Im not taking the songs into consideration because right now hes doing ported and if he plays the wrong song its gonna get ugly real quick. Shit he can hit a 160 on a few notes of a song but all of a sudden when those 32 12's start playing like 10 8's scores going downhill real fast.
still havent gotten the email foo:fro:i second the vote to leave them sealed...
with the diamond shape enclosure you are going to be building, it will technically act kind of like a 4th order bp box. you could port them just as easily, but i dont think you are going to gain many favorable results.
if you cant get loud with 32 12"s in ANY install, you arent going to get loud...
yup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifthats why people who compete in bassrace usually pick their song out beforehand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
and alot of them will find some weird stuff because they know where it peaks and when it peaks.
if you know exactly where your install is going to peak before you build it, then you must be a genius //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifTrue im still basing all this off the fact the guy is sort jumping into this build and just trying to keep it as fool safe as possible.
id keep checking it, it had 4 pics, might take a while to travel across the interwebs. ill resend it in a bit if i need to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifstill havent gotten the email foo:fro:

Id still rather do sealed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
i agree 32 subs is loud and should beat out most ported or bandpass setups based on sheer cone area.I highly doubt you could make a decent ported design with 32 12s. It would be better off to run a sealed wall.
This is true. I would suggest like you said with seperate boxes. Some competitors have noticed actually taking out some subs but using the same power is louder than just many many subs. Its something you have to play withHe is obviously going with the cone area theory! I just dont think 32 is going to work proper though, I think you would be just as loud with 20 12s, at a point you will notice cancellation becomes a huge factor!
