What 2 12's should I go with?

Hey guys,

I'm helping my buddy out with a system and he wants 2 12's. He's got around 1500 to spend on a pair of twelves, a box, an amp, wires, and an extra battery if needed. He said he'd like it to be louder than a pair of Type X's so i'm thinking I should get him one of the 135 a/h batteries of these forums and find him an amp that pushes like 1800-2000 but I don't know if i can squeeze everything on the budget AND beat a pair of Type X's. what do you guys think? He will be listening to all rap and hip hop btw, so he's definitely looking to go ported but does want some good sound subs. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks so much, Austin.

type x's aren't even "loud" imo. I'd figure out what amp you want first then pick subs to match personally.

are you buying the subs new or used? can't go wrong with audioque sd2.5 12"s

I'm pretty set on the AQ 2200D as an amp. Do you think one of those C&D Batteries and the Big 3 will be able to handle 2200 RMS? If not, how many RMS would I be ok with if I had one of those batteries and the big 3? thanks so much guys.

EDIT: and I'm really trying to only spend around 400 for the subs if the 2200D will be able to work. Thx so much.

what automobile this going in? the c&d tech batt will be more than enough for the aq amp.

if ur getting the 2200d 2 hdc3 12's would be a nice match. under your budget too

I was thinking about the HDC3's. YOu think they'll sound nice? and how big of a box am i looking at for 2 12's ported? It is going into a chrysler sebring not sure which year.

2 cu.ft. each sub tuned to 38Hz. actually I have a box made that'd be perfect for them, if u can understand my box design numbers I'll send'm to u. If u were closer I'd sell ya the thing

Ok should I go with the HDC3's or the Q's? and is there anything else that's a little cheaper because a pair of the HDC3's comes out to be like 600 bucks shipped to my door. That's really pushing the budget because I still have to get the battery, wires, big three upgrade, amp, and the box. and could someone lead me to a good amplifier kit for the 2200D and also some wiring to do the big three upgrade and a solid amp kit. Thx so much.

I've really been satisfied with everything AQ that's been in my hands. The SDC2.5's are stellar and another buddy of mine is going with the 15" HDC3 and I can't wait to hear it. I'm probably going to stick with audioque.

wire isn't hard to find, and you can build your own box. get the hdc3's or the knockoff konaki/american bass/md sounds. same sub only different dust cap and magnet boot. I had a pair of the konaki versions and they were insane
