weird problem... Long bass note hits when I shut my door

ok so i'm having a weird *** issue..... So I drive, stop, park, turn off my car, open my driver side door, get out, shut the door and BOOOOOOM. A 1-2 second bass note plays when I shut my door after my car is off. I can repeatedly shut my door and have the random *** bass note play until aout 15 - 20 seconds after my car is off. What in the hell is going on? I've done plenty of car installs and never had anything like this happen.

can this be linked to why my amp goes into protect when

when I turn my volume up loud and deep bass notes hit? I've come to the conclusion that it is in fact my voltage dropping that makes my amp go into protect because if I play a sound that doesn't have alot of deep bass notes, the protect problem seems to go away. Most of the time anyway. I am very motivated to solve these problems.

thanks in advance

Dangit!!! I was hoping you had no idea what I was talking about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I would start checking wires though. Ground, remote lead, and power wire starting at the batter.

ok then back the drawing board as far as where to ground my amp. I'll test my current ground with my meter... Hopefully that is the problem for both the protect issue anf this weird *** issue with my doors shutting

let me guess you have a stock HU?

yes I do have a stock HU. The way my 07 volvo is is the stock HU is integrated with my AC controls and shit. It basically impossible to replace it with an aftermarket HU. I talked to one of the local CA shops here in austin and he said it was something about my stock HU having a delayed turn off. But even so why would me shutting my door trigger signals to be sent only to my sub and not my door speakers? I was thinking just put a switch on my remote.

Your CA shop guy was right. Unfortunately the switch is the only thing that will fix that if you don't want to trade out hu's. Or a relay on the amp turn on, a bit of a hassle though if you ask me. As far as why it only happens when your door shuts i'm not sure, that could be anything. What is your amp turn on lead wired to? an ACC fuse?

How would a relay fix the issue? i don't get it.

Because the problem is caused by the amp and input signal turning on and off at different times. A relay would delay the amp turn on signal so that the amp does not turn on unless the radio is on.

A way to be sure this is your problem is to get in the car with it on and the radio on like normal, then turn the radio completely off (leave everything else on) slam your door again. If the rumble happens, The time differential is your problem. and you need a switch or relay.
