Weird Problem...Audio cuts off but amps remain on

When I play my music I begin to hear a static type sound running through every speaker in my vehicle, then all the audio cuts off but none of the amplifiers are in protect.. When the audio goes out, if i don't turn of my radio completely, i begin to hear this loud sound, kind of like the hard sub amp turn off. Its just this loud boom from my woofers that happens ever so often as long as the radio is still powered on. What could be the problem? I'm guessing that my radio is going bad.

sounds like a loose rca connection or bad ground. make sure all your connections are secure at the amp, grounding points, and HU and see if that fixes everything
