Weird noise from sub on vocals only

If a sub sounds great playing bass, no rattling... but when there is no bass, it does a weird sound sometimes on vocals:Seven if the volume is very low( like if the coil is ****ed up) but i used a DMM it was ok, i tried to switch the xover to full pass and high pass fpr a moment and vocals came out very nicely. So dunno whats the prob. When i took it out of the sealed box and played, there wasnt any weired noise, as i am putting it in the box, its like if the box is doing some echo ( sound reflecting back). might be cz my sealed box is too large?? Thx

Guys i am not that stupid, my LPF is set to 55Hz, what i mean by vocals, is that when there are vocals in the song, the sub is making a funny noise which is ruining the overall sound and affecting the sound of the speakers. With music that only contains bass, the sub is great, when there are vocals in the sound, its making a wierd noise eventhough my LPF is set low enough, Is it possible cz the sealed box is too large? the sound is like: bghhhh bghhhhh bghhhhhhh

And again, the same nightmare of DMM gain setting is following me with subs. With speakers i am having a good output, but when using DMM with subs, output sucks. Its been like forever and i dont know the reason:D:D:D Thx:)

No. But is sounds like the LPF might not be functioning properly. Which could indicate some of your equipment is faulty.

As I told you before, use a -10db test tone and not a 0db test tone.

okay man, i will try a -10db test tone:( but Squeak when the sub is out of the box,the wierd sound is sooooooo tiny, when i put it in the box it does the bghhhhhh bghhhhhh stuf.Thx guys.

No man, no least at all, the wierdest thing is that when i unscrew the sub the air will leak, and the bghh bghhh sound goes away and the sub will perform great:S as soon as i tighten the screws the wierd sound like scratching the cone....comes back and only on vocales and certain notes. The box is OK, my previous sub didnt do this weird sound...so i dunno if this sub doesnt like sealed enclosures...its a clarion PA-15S sub

Faulty equipment is the cause. Either your LPF is not working or your sub is broke. While playing it free air there should be no noise coming from the motor. Only the sound of the surround or moving air.

Yep, thats my take on it as well. Im really suspecting the LPF is faulty. Can you set the crossover frequency on your headunit as well as your amp?
