A mechanic friend of mine and I were tearing apart a parts car today until we got to the stereo. We figured that we would test it in his car, which is a 1984 BMW 318.
Well what happened was that the radio only turned on for very short periods of time very briefly. We used the DMM on the power/ground from the car's radio wires and it read 1.6v. We then checked the battery and it read, with just the ignition on, a 13.44v.
My question is from the battery to the radio harness where can the voltage be "leaking"?
