Keep in mind that i haven't install my system yet. Before when everything was stock in my car( alt. battery, no big 3) my voltage at idle was about 12.75 volts. Now after getting new alt.(before was 90 amp, now 180 amp/ 115 idle) new battery(yellow top) and did 2 of the big 3 (missing block to chassis, will do tomorrow) now my voltage is hovering around 12.75 volts again!!! Humm. what gives here? i did the first 2 steps of big 3 by the book doubled checked. what do you think? i'm disapointed about this. (still with no system in)

ooooh, well the problem is that you drive rice. sell it and get a real car, then youll be in business. j/k man, no theres not much you can do about the V regulator unless you know what your doing. lol

Dont hold me to this though, the V reg may not be the issue.

Fair enough, anybody else have an opinion about this? this is bugging me a lot, i guess i'm barely charging my battery when my car is on! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i have the same problem. except once i accelerate, it goes up to 14v. i thing my HO alt just doesnt put out enough amps at idle. other than that, maybe the V regulator?
Actually, since you have a high output alternator (as do i //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif), the alternator actually doesn't turn on until a certain RPM. Mine is around 800 RPM.

That's most likely the culprit. To test it out, with the car in park slightly push down on the gas more and more until your voltage goes up. When it does, that is when you alternator effectively "turns on".

well went to try it again and Tommy was right. as soon as the RPM got around 800, it went up to 14.10 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif so i guess it's all good, Thanks, now can go to bed happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

you're welcome

Wrong.
It phyiscally does NOT turn on, and your car runs off the battery.

I talked to the person who BUILT my alternator.

Thats what he said //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

So if your car runs off of a battery, why do you need an alternator...... The alternator runs the entire electrical system, reserve capacity is kept in..... the battery.
nvm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif
