Have a sony xplode pentagon 1600w amp. Installed it last july and has worked fine until yesterday.
While I was driving back to school from spring break my amp suddenly stopped. This was unaccapteble as i still had at least another hour until i got back to school.
I pulled the car over and lifted the hood to check and see if the fuse had blown, as soon as i touched the fuse my girlfriend who was in the car told me that the amp had came back own. I was satisfied with this and drove the rest of the way home with no problem.
Today the thing stopped working again, so i looked at the fuse and appeared to be good. I broke out the multimeter and read the cable before the fuse and was getting about 14-15 v, the cable after the fuse was reading about .5 volts. I then pulled off the end leading away from the fuse and read the fuse directly with the multimeter and again was getting about 14-15v. I left the multimeter lead on the end of the fuse and touched the cable leading to my amp to the fuse and the voltage immediatly dropped to .5v
My next step is to unhook the power cable from my amp then take a reading on it. hopefully its not my amp blown out.
Just looking for some help. Thanks
