WTF does the fact that the cap charges faster have to do with how much it relies on the alternator to provide current? A cap has a lower ESR and a vastly smaller capacity than does a normal car batt, that is why it reacts differently than a car batt in the manner you describe. Now, Id love for you tell the whole class, with your electrical engineering education, how a lower ESR and smaller storage capacity means a capacitor relies any less on the alt to provide current than does the battery itself. If you can explain exactly how a cap is more efficient than a battery bank or h/o alt, or big 3 then maybe people would listen to you. Instead all you do is ******** this thread with lies and saying you must be right because you are an electrical engineer. you are a moron.... a battery or cap doesn't know the difference between audio electrical and car electrical... it's just electrical. Do you think that your house electrical knows if you plug in a tv versus, say a hair dryer?? NO, it doesn't just like a cars electrical doesn't know if you plug in an amplifier vs fog lights.

You are really missing some bolts and nuts. The way the CAP is designed is it has an positive input from the battery and a postive output to the amp. Once charged the positive can't flow backwards to the battery or the electrical appliances due to the circuitry of the CAP.
