Underpowering a sub

probably wouldnt hurt really.. just wouldnt be giving those enough power to really bump. might as well just use one in a nice ported box... then sell the old amp and other type r for a better amp...

 
underpower will not hurt. but make sure you don't try to make it hit like it's 800w. in other words, set gains properly and don't try to get more out of the equipment than it can do.

Do you mean adding bass control from the hu (little extra add on bass controls from the hu)?

when you basically turn your gains up with a low powered amp with high rated subs. there is a good chance you can clip your subs... probably draw too much current to the amp, or send the subs a dirty signal basically and eventually those subs will blow. kinda why i said play it safe and only use one of them subs on that amp

 
O alright well I might get the alpine mrp-m1000 but i was wondering whether my current amp would be fine for new subs.
