Type X Pro worth the money over others?

I would be buying 2 sets.

They wouldnt be seeing much power, but I would deaden and seal up my doors and put the time into the install to get the most I could out of them.

I think it would be fun to try a SQish build.

yeah

Do what you think will suit your needs, but I really feel that buying two pairs is not the best way to go. At best, I think it is waste of money. At worst, you will have problems with getting them to sound right.

Just my .02.

And if I could not hear the comps I think I would go with the Type X's -- but that's just what I would do -- it's not a recommendation since I have zero experience with either set (other than to fondle the X's). Hopefully someone who has experience with both will offer an opinion that is worth a shot.

Im not going to run a single set... If I run 2 sets I can run my amp lower. That way I will have more power and double the speakers. It will be a Chevy so they have the doors that can fit 2 6.5s if you glass them in. Tweets will be going in A pillars.

Its not a straight SQ build Im going for. I want just a good daily setup that will sound clean and have decent output.

NVM

I am wondering if Alpine took the Scans and went to a Chinese build house and had some pretty close copies made of their drivers, because they look very close to the SS drivers, but there are definitely some key differences.

Who knows...

What about using the front 2 channels on my DLS Ultimate A5 to run 2 dedicated midbasses and then buying another amp to run some components?

How do dedicated midbasses do in kick pannels? I would make sure it was sealed up totally. Any experience with this?

all they did was try to keep the slit cone look...
Look at the tweeter, it's a ring radiator, from what I could find the only 2 companies with ring radiators were Scan Speak and Vifa, both formerly owned by Tymphany. Now SS is on its own again and Tymphany still has Vifa and Peerless. I do agree with you on the woofer, it looks to be of much lower quality than the SS ones.
