Type R runnin 1kw daily?

So from your personal experiences you have 'discovered' that a speaker can handle more power in a large ported enclosure compared to all others?

Actually, he is right. Throw a 300 RMS driver into a 15 cube box with 1000 watts and watch it go up in flames.
A small ported/sealed enclosure technically yields more power handling
throw the r in a 1cube sealed or in a 2-3cube ported and see which goes up in flames off my amp :-/

right now its unfused so dont comment on what you dont know....
On what I don't know, eh? Well, smartguy, I was commenting on what YOU posted:

ill clarify my first post a lil, my 1 15 i ran off of 3111 actual rms watts, and the 2 12's are running off of anywhere from 3.5-4+kw actual rms power havent clamped it yet all i know is i smoked 2 50 amp fuses(so total of 100a) like nothing as soon as bass hit.
This makes no reference to WHEN this took place - only that it happened at all. Furthermore my post makes no reference regarding timeline either so the current state of your wiring is rather immaterial to this discussion wouldn't you say?
also "in theory" the 3111 watts was on a 100a fuse so i guess "theories" arent always correct.
I am well aware that theories and actual happenings in real-world situations are frequently not one in the same. Hence my making the qualification in THE FIRST PLACE that "In Theory...." blah blah blah. I was making a simple observation - nothing more, nothing less. Get over yourself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

To answer your question, yes the Type R's should be fine with 1000w daily. If pay attention to them and do not pass the clipping threshold then you should be fine. If you hear any bit of distortion or something of that nature then turn it down.

Rule of thumb:

Larger ported box will peak closer to tuning, and will handle gobs of power in that area. If you go too large you lose control of the woofer at any freq and alot of SPL. Generally these boxes are peaky - depends a bit on woofer.

Small ported box will peak farther from tuning, sometimes this is what you have to do to get a high note. If you go too small you lose tons of output and any semblance of SQ. Generally you can't get a low note out of a small box... you can "tune" to 20hz if you wish, but it will still peak much higher.

Large sealed box gives a great low end at the sacrifice of power handling, perhaps the lowest power handling of any box, assuming the "proper" box is built.

Small sealed will handle more power than a large sealed, but it will sacrifice more low end as you get smaller. Mechanical power handling is less than a ported box, thermal handling may be raised due to increased cone excursion yielding better heat dissipation per the power input applied... but thats obviously only good up until the woofer bottoms out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You are more than welcome to test my "rules of thumb" if you wish, be sure to post results here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif . Please note these things arent written in stone, and slightly large to one 12" driver may be entirely oversized to another... and right on target for one woof may be half the size needed for another woof. The terms "large" and "small" are left purposely vague.

i run mine on a 1605d daily...if that matters

should be in the range of 1000 watts

i dunno...my dmm is messed up but I tuned for about 39 volts at +0 and i run at +2 all day

should be about 1000 watts...i still can't get the woof to stink all that much

it is pretty tough
