Type-R owners, need some feedback

sounds like you just want some subs to be a badd ***..."my car is so loud it'll leave you literally speechless dawG!"
A.) How much power does your amp ACTUALLY put out?

B.) What kind of car is this in;trunk, hatch, etc..,trunks a the most difficult by far for SPL capabilities

C.) Unless you want those things to turn into paperwieghts, turn your gains down.
No, I'm trying to associate dB levels with how you would feel sitting in the car. I've never been metered, so I'm trying to get a ballpark.

A. I don't know how much actual power. I took measurements of the speaker terminals with a voltmeter, came to 33v. So ~1089w. I know it's not the most accurate, but it's a ballpark.

B. As I said, in my original post, car is 96 Accord sedan, back seats folded down.

C. I know I should, but I want some rationalization here. I hear no distortion at all and the subs are still waaayyy within their mechanical limits.

first off you can not tell by feeling, different notes have different feelings.

A. that means absolutely nothing so dont even use that as an estimate for power.

B. i know someone w/ same car and it gets fairly loud w/ an spl install, idk how your box is, how it is facing, or anything of that nature seeing you dont answer questions.

C.That means nothing i have never seen someone need to turn the gain all the way up on their amp and type-r's hate clipping so if you smoke them dont come crying to us.

I would get a different amp, then set the gains properly.

Uhhh, mind telling me of how I do not answer questions? Jeez you don't needa be an ******* and make stupid assumptions that I will come crying to you. Can I not ask a simple fvcking question without getting flamed? Sh!t I answer questions and still get flamed. I answer a question that was already answered in my original post and still get flamed. Pardon me for asking some legitimate questions.

Anyways, subs firing into cabin, 40sq in port area, internal dimensions of box are 31.5" length, 14.5" tall, 18.5" deep.

My gains are now set at a lil less than 3/4 up. My HU has weak 2v pre-outs. Now I know the "Loud" function on Pioneer HU's are like an insta-clip button, but what about the low-mid-high controls? Say I want to turn the bass up in some songs and turn the "low" to +3, will I be safe, or will that induce clipping as well?

MikeyB, mind telling me what is wrong with my amp?

Well the R's are known to be able to up to 1000 rms daily, so I guess if your trying to get louder than giving them the power would help. What kind of power does that amp you have put out? I see that its rated at 1500 but does it do that? BTW are these dual 2 ohm subs? What are they wired to on that amp?

The Rs are dual 4, wired to 1ohm. The amp is not well known, but it uses the same board as the RE 35.1. It's an old school amp, but I'm sure it puts out it's rated power. I can't really tell you how much it's putting out right now since I don't have the right instruments.

1000 wrms in tcab box's, but many of there box's have impedance rise like ahh
I don't get paid enough to drop enough money on a box like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif although it would be nice.

if u got a HU with a 5V output, i think it will help. i know that b/c i had a 2V then got the X790 5V, big difference. just my $.02
I was thinking the same also. I will get another HU once I beef up my electrical system. Anways, here are some install pics as requested.

I know this is very messy. I haven't had time to clean it up yet, planning to move the tweet amp to under one of the seats. I wonder if you all notice the 20' RCA's :p Will replace those with shorter ones later.

I would look into an amp 2kw or so... Also have you tried turning your box around... Play with the positioning, I gained quite a bit just from facing my box upwards .

Well, turnin them around and having the subs facing the cabin results in a huge loss. I have no room to face them upwards either.

I am quite contempt with them now actually. I am putting less than 1kw into them (due to my weak electrical system) and on some songs, I can't stand them (especially Lil Jon - Throw it up). I'm guessing that with a beefed up electrical system and better HU, I'll be more than happy.

It just depends on the car... Ive personally seen cars do better on the meter with the subs firing in the cabin, but if you have tried it, then o well for that idea...

nice accord w/ leather seats eh? this is how i set up mines:) its a tiny difference but i like my sub/port to fire toward the rear
