Type R or IDQ 12v3?

im looking to get a single 12 inch sub, with a good mix of both sq and spl.. i know the idq12v3 is great for sq, but not sure how loud it gets.. im not sure about the type r either..so input is appreciated

R's get loud but are by no means SQ subs...I have only heard one IDQ setup and it sounded great. It seemed to get loud enough

Ok. Yeah im not looking to blow out my ears with SPL, just want a nice balance of the two so its loud enough yet clear enough to enjoy some good bass

Edit: forgot you asked only between those... uhh yeah Type R's dont soud very great but are loud... never heard an IDQ before

My ID8D2V3's are loud for 8" subs. The IDQ is a step above those. Id go with the IDQ over Alpine anything.

since you actually own the ID's, you would prefer them over the Type X as well? I have always thought the X's to be solid

ID makes some awesome stuff. Their woofers are very efficient and very musical. The Type X is $40 more than an ID Q v2, both 10" subs and DVC2 or DVC4 coil configurations. You save $40 and get a better sounding, better looking, and better built woofer. You cant go wrong. To me the ID subs hands down. Its all personal preference though.

Haha looks like the idq is in the lead..thats what i was leaning towards anyway.. i want some good quality. now just gotta find an amp..woofersetc says the idq is 750rms , but the id website says 500...so how much rms should i give it if i buy the 2ohm sub?

What model and version is the sub your looking at and how many? The ID subs can take a bit more than RMS all day long if its done right.

this and just a single 12", looking to have a good sub with some decent trunk space. IDQ12V3.D2 - Image Dynamics 12" IDQ Version 3 Dual 2 Ohm Subwoofer

IDQ over the Type-R.

DC Level 3 over both for a good SQL mix.

i agree that they make good stuff, i was just wondering from someone who has daily experience opposed to me just hearing a setup for a short period of time

Id get a MB Quart 1200 and wire that sub to 1 ohm just so you have extra power on tap if you ever upgrade. but thats me..

Class D at 1 ohm is not SQL.

Look for class a/b or class D power at 4 ohms. Look for about 600-650 and after imp rise you should be right around 500@4
