The Type R and the Avalanche aren't really in the same class, when you look at price, power handling, etc...apples to oranges.
Note the last four letters of your sentence...The Type R is about 220 MSRP.

If people bought RE XXX's at full MSRP, you'd see a whole lot less of them on this forum.

Price isn't the issue here as they are two different drivers.

In the monte carlo I was getting 1550 actual watts - thats double the RMS of the sub. Yes... full tilt music was NOT a problem, full song.yes they can compete with the big dawgs, the TYPE R's are indeed good subs , and power does matter to a degree. box matters , electrical system , headunit, many things apply but to answer your question, i know the type r is a great sub , never tried AA. ive got 2 12"s R's and i love em, i wanna put more and more juice on them, im thinkin of going with a mojo amp on them. there power hungry. Spkmans running a 15" R with 2 1000ds! two! thats like 2 oe 3 times the power rating RMS. Please ...no TYPE R haters....
