My local wood shop says they don't have any MDF (deium density fiberboard), but they do have HDF (High density fiberboard). Would it be ok to use 3/4" HDF in a slot ported enclosure for an L7

I don't know that much about car audio, but from what I understand, your only major options are MDF, Birch, and Fiberglass.

i would think 3/4" hdf would be ok considering its even more durable than mdf.....

HDF will be okay, It will have a little more tendnacy to split when you install the screws, so be sure to use a countersunk bit and drill into the wood slowly... It will be fine.

If that were true, wouldn't everyone recommend HDF over MDF? Sounds fishy, inhumanacura. I think the higher amount of air in MDF makes a better sound dampener, while it's still strong enough to hold a sub..

I'm not 100% but I think people just recommend mdf cause it's just simply easier to get.

I agree with IHA More density less flex.
