Me and a friend of mine is installing a litttle setup right now. Were stuck on deciding if we should run 2 2ohm mono amps on 2 subs instead of one amp. Of course we didnt list the amps or subs we just want to know if its true of getting max watts at 2ohm load on mono amp. only helpful advice reply.

It would essentially depend on what the amplifiers are stable at.

If they are stable at 1 ohm, then that'd be good. If not, well, to get maximum rated power, 2 ohms.

Bit of common sense ^^

someone once told me that the only way to get "max" watts out of an amp is if your car gets hit by a bolt of lightning... i'd be looking at the rms wattage... that being said, i'd just go with one amp that puts out a matched amount of rms wattage that the subs are rated for...
just my $.02

I always described max rated amplifiers by saying that is the max power they will produce before everything blows on the circuit board as the amp spontaneously bursts into flames!

Then again, most max power amps must generate their own power or something because there is no way in hell they will ever reach max power in reality due to the fact that the fusing is too low. In other words, 2000 watts off of one (or two) 25 amp fuse(s) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif isn't going to happen for very long before the fuses pop;)
