Thinking about getting back into car audio

hah..

Dude, teach me something abt DD, I have no clue what does those numbers mean.. My guess is that last 2 numbers represents size of subwoofer right?

4 8" subs.. hmm.. what is wrong with 2 10s? and isnt it gonna be a big box for 4 8s?

anyways, you could do a setup like i have in the picture on the first page, i might still have the box plans if you want them. Or if you want to make the box longer, say all the way back to the gate, you could pull off 2 10's, maybe a pair of fi BTLs on a 3krms amp?

15 is just the series. DD has 15, 25, 35, 95, and 99 for series. And yeah, the last two numbers are the size. Check ddaudio.com
what are the differences between those series? just a better kind of subs? the higher, the better quality it is?

Hmm that pics looks good.. what are you running on them? 4 8s or what?

huh? lol that setup is two kicker CVR 8's on a kenwood amp. the subs were buy one get one free, 200RMS. That setup got louder then any setup at any of my local high schools at the time, including a 12" L7 on a Bxi2006 @ 1 ohm. Anyways, i fyou wanted to go 8's, right around 2.5 cubic feet (whats in the picture) would be perfect. DD does make some decent 8's.

If i was you, i would go a little bigger, say 3.5 cubes, and just stretch the box all the way back to the gate. That way, you could get some 10's, which yields more cone area. maybe some 10" BTL's or something along those lines. Thats what i would do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

sorry, I looked at wrong pic, my bad..

The Boston SPG555 is an oval shaped cone, so it's approximate equivalent size might be like a 13" round cone. It will handle 1000W, over 3 1/2" stroke, designed to play in a 1 cft sealed enclosure, and is super accurate. I think that addressed your space constraints.

It has been measured at 140db for a single with 1000W applied, and to address your cost concerns, can be picked up for around $350/ea., used. Now...before all these guys jump in with "Never buy used", These subs can easily be disassembled to change the spider/cone/surround, or replace a voice coil that is damaged OR you can change from 4 ohm to 2 ohm impedance coil if you like, just by R/R 8 screws.

if any of you guys have had an experience with 2 10s in like 3.5 cuft box, I would like to know what is it like and see pics of it..

Thanks

any inputs?

I think I am going on a (2) 10" subs direction.. I got BL's in my mind or BTL's but if you guys know of a better 10" let me know..
