Thinking about getting back into car audio

After I sold my 2 15 inch Fi Q's and JBL 1201.1, I immediatedly miss having some bump in my explorer.. But I dont miss the trunk space when the subs was in there at all because I made like 7 cubes ported box (3.5 per sub)..

I want to get back into the game, but I m hoping to go for one sub set up that only requires like reasonable sized box that wont consume my trunk space.. And not only that, I want to get louder.. Or if I can get 2 specific subs that can be in a small enclosure then sure that would work either..

So I m wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions on what sub(s), amp, head unit to get?

I m looking to have like 1500 or 2000 watts RMS set up.. I want reasonably priced system... Let's say I have about 900 bucks..

opinions are welcome

do up like 4 dd1508's
Uh wow. Way to not read his post.

Does it matter on the size of the sub. Or are we trying to keep the sub size down as well? How much room do you want to take up?

JL 12w3 or 10w3

FI Q series

Boston SPG5552

Alpine Type R

All running off of your wattage would be fine. You can determine for either a one or two sub setup.

hey he was asking for a compact setup that would be as loud. I see he said 2 subs but come on, when the 8s can be run in only .5 cuft you'd be using a total of 2cuft. So what's wrong with my suggestion?? It's way better than the 7 he was using before AND it keeps the budget under 900 AND the 1500-2000wrms would be perfect. It think it's a good solution. For amp I'd suggest using an MTX ta81001 and head unit...personally I prefer Pioneer.

IMO none of the subs you recommended will get louder than his previous setup while using less space. The 8s maybe be the way to go

Looks like he does. Read the post.

15" Mag

SAZ1500D get them both used here for like 600 combined...

youll need like 3.5 tops for ported and can go even smaller sealed....not gonna be as loud as two 15's off of 1200 watts though...well not likely at least

Why dont you think it will get as loud as my previous 2 Q's set up? Unless you are talking about sealed box?

I think I should be able to be louder with one sub pretty easy because I was underpowering those subs before, they both were getting like 600 watts each thats it..

But this time I m hoping to push approximately 1,500 to 2,000 watts into one sub..

I was thinking about 15 inch BTL? or other suggestions? I only had an experience with Fi, nothing else.. I dont mind trying one of the RE's subs.. I m still pretty new to CA..

Or maybe I ll consider 2 12 inch subs in reasonable sized box?

Any opinions would be appreciated.. thanks in advance

I like sundown 1500d amp a lot, so I think I would like to grab one when I got the money..

Now I need to decide which sub(s) do I want and which headunit..

any inputs?

I have been thinking about maybe 2 10inch Fi Q's or BL's powered by a 2kw amp would work.. But I ll have to find out how big of a box are those subs gonna need..

i had 2 kicker CVR 8's in my explorer for a while. if you could find some high power 8" subs, throw them in a standup 2.5cu ft box, get an amp, and you're golden:
