The Official Type R Thread

hey, say what you guys want it was by far the best sounding type R i have ever heard and everyone that heard it said that also, and it was loud as hell, but we decided to go ahead and smoke the type R (sorry no realmofexcursion clips) so we took it back and paid the difference for an X, holy shit!i think his car doors are going to fall off

you guys can go against what i said its all good,

but you guys just havn't heard what i do,

i specailize in maximum SQL,

a guy at the shop showed me his w7 today, not impressed, the type R was louder and sounded alot better, really wierd (didn't build his w7 box)

but now the X is in, so my boy's not messin around anymore, i told him he'd get what he paid for

we will be at some DB drags soon too,

gotta tweak everything out
ummm....ok...so which one of those boxes was the Type R in? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

both lines are type R's just in different boxes

people telling me its impossible for a type R to sound good in a 3.5 cuft box is like coming up to me and tellin me you cant put 20's on a grand am.

when at the shop today picking up that X i mentioned how some of you guys are telling me that the type R wont be loud and will sound terrible in a 3.5 cubic foot box, and i had to change the subject to get them to stop laughing, cause every time we ride up there in his car, it turns into a demo vehicle cause they want to show people what that little 150 sub can do at insane SQL levels

but back to the type x, i'd say its about 10 steps up from the type r, wow, i cant believe the doors on his car are staying closed, they litterally flap, havn't seen anyones shit do that ,

at that the X is so hot, you people should check them out if you havn't, its got a re-enforced cone, pretty cool, lookes like the sub is made to disapate heat better then the R,

the box we have it in i made for the type X, even though he had a type R, cause i knew after he heard the type R in that box he would not be able to resist an upgrade to the x, which it took about a month but dayum, anyone of you guys running these?

i will do a full review on the x in a couple days

I got an open box special type r at a local shop w/ 3 year warranty for $160. Now im gonna buy one on ebay for 100. So I have two type rs to play with, both with 3 year warranty for under $300.

It makes me wonder how many people are getting the 2004 Type R's on ebay expecting the upped performance of the 2005 models.

$100 on ebay, $200 at BB, but you can get the 4 year warranty, which rocks.

I got a pair off of ebay with a 1 year warranty for 270 shipped. Each woofer was about 105 bucks, plus the usually high shipping charge for items of this weight/size.

i have a type r from alpine i got it running on 1ohm, on over 1000W Rms....it works great....but could this damage my sub?

what are the things i should watch out for?

thx

I need a ported box for my 15" Alpine Type R that is being powered by a Orion 1200D. I have a Toyota 4Runner so i have quite a bit of room to work with. Basically what i need is a place online to buy a box, or someone that will give me the dimensions to do it on my own. I want a box that will make the sub hit in the 130-150 db range. Any suggestions?

P.S. I have about $200 for one.

I say make your own or have a local shop build one for you. that way you can get it to spec for your sub.

If you are interested in doing it yourself, send me a pm. I can design the box plans for you..

There seem to be alot of people on these forums giving the new type r's that much power and saying they are doing great...

If you start to smell the glue melting them you should turn it down...
