The Official Type R Thread

well.. im thinking after 11000000000 threads on the new type rs and spkrman and sblazer pimpin them hoes i might have to pick up a pair.. im not usually one to succumb to a boner, but this one is irresistable.

...... hmm that didnt sound great......

just dropped the RL-P into the 2 cube 28hz box... night and day difference. It sounds extremely good, tonally its one of the best woofs ive ever heard. It still lacks extention, but this i believe has to do with the vehicle. Very smooth now, plays complex passages with ease.
I'm very happy with the SQ, we'll see if it gets louder... SPL testing later and more SQ review on the other woofs in this box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

its weird how such a small change in the box makes such a huge difference in sound

it really is... and its absolutely night and day. The box closed that gap where the RL-P was lacking in the 45-52hz range, smoothed it out real nice like. It also moderated hte peak at 55hz, so it doesn't sound so irritating at that high note. Its still there, but what remains should be remedied with xover.

honestly, not really....

a great man on here used to have something to this effect in his sig (and i stole part of it)

85% install, 10% equipment, 5% beer (anyone care to guess who??)

the box will either make or break even the best of subwoofers, as spkrman just showed.

and no, i didn't steal the 5% beer part...

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

Now that's more along of the lines of what the woofer is capable of //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

this thread is worthless, both subs are loud enough. everyone is arguing, yes in "that" install the Rs hit better in SPL than the RL-Ps end of story, try at a comp when people have different enclosures, different cars, different power, different installs period. I garuntee someone could could out smart another and make their RL-P pound the shit out of an R, and vise versa. imo I just think its all on the install. But good test anyhow, the Rs sound like a great buy, as well as the RL-ps. both great subs, infact i just got done hearing 2 12" Type Rs in a 300zx they rocked. hatchbacks own also. but you should really consider doing many multiple tests more thurrrow

How about someone with an RL-P try to get a hold of a Type-R and do a comparison?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

SX = take lots of power

They were loving a colossus at 1 ohm on each.

Until I blew the dustcaps off after very rigours testing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

But thats still nearly 4000w a sub
