Depends on what your definition of "loud" is. In a quality ported box they will get plenty loud for a dd setup.

well its between these and the 15 inch SX. both will be ported to spec....what do u guys think????? they are being bought today! im leaning towards the SX because of the warranty and all that. im sure it will get plenty loud as well.

i know the box makes the subs in a lot of situations, but logically the 2 12's have the advantage, being more surface area 400 sq cm i think??? a piece....compared to a 15's 500 sq cm?? i believe???? correct me if im wrong there of course. and i have the power for them, so its not like im shorting out on potential power to have quantity. what do u guys suggest for a box for the both of em? space after displacement i mean.

I know its quite popular now a days to discuss how much the enclosure and install affect final speaker performance, but to say the box determines everything is simply false. The box does not move any air, the box does not need to stay linear to affect SQ performance, the box does not need to worry about fatigue and/or distortion caused by overheating, etc etc.
