The Official Type R Thread

Is this application going to be used as a home theater system or as a home music system? If its going to be a home theater, definatly tune low. Most home theater systems are tuned in the 20's. If its going to be used as a home stereo application, tune it in the low 30's

the type r will take alot of power but i can most definelty smell the VC when its pushed hard for a long period of time, we just put a 12" R in my friends car with the 1000w RMS V12 alpine amp, and it straight hits, go by this rule, if it blow that just means its time for the X and you should be good

the higher you tune it the more narrow the frquency response gets, and the sensitivity is raised,

50-80 hz tunings put out some high numbers but will not play music for shit-

but thats what makes hitting high SPL at lower hz more impressive

until the 20-80 hz rule was made for the db drags, alma gates set her world record a long time ago- 172**somthing- with a 120hz tone

IM a newbie but isn't smelling the coil really bad? im sure the type r hits really hard all alpine stuff is good for the wattage / dollar ratio [off ebay]

wow that box talk is way over my head hahah i got the last part of 120 cycles hitting 172 odd db's....wow thats nuts.

So for my set up i was thinking tuning to 28 ....or is that too high for dvd audio and too low for music...ohh man this is cool tho i can't wait to get it all up and running.

the amp i am thinking of getting is the step up from what i was going to order...just gotta find a company that is a lil closer to home for shipping costs ?

its like 30 odd pounds how much would it cost to ship that much weight ups ground from cali area to vancover canada area any1 have a idea

 
k i was talking bout the xenon sub in the other thread but i would like to know what is better between these 2...

i have a pg x600.1 amp if that helps..i want sql...but i really want it to sound good..and pound

 
The xenon is for you as well. You cant fail with either, although im sure more people are going to tell u to go with the type r, especially with all the hype about it now, so just get the type r i guess.
