The do's and dont''s of my first wall....it seems like something isn't right....

None of you understood shi t about the hobby when you first started.....but guess what?.....you learned as you went along.....exactly what im doing.....learning as i go....i know none of your walls were perfect the very first time

I do understand the basics......just fine....yeah I'm having a little trouble sealing it up.....but guess what? This is my first wall....with no experience with building a wall....so yeah of course im going to fuc k up. That's why i came here for your help.....Ive listened to what every has suggested.....yeah i used some roofing tape, who fuc king cares? Its not like i can't take it off.....i was just seeing if it would work or not....if it did great, if it didn't, guess what? I can peel it off....simple as that

You do not.

If you were trying to build a tank for a compressor, would you build the sides then put the bottom on with a 4" gap and fill it with spray foam and flashing tape?

The purpose of a speaker box is to completely separate the front wave from the back wave and "load" the cone with acoustic suspension of the volume of air resisting compression/change in pressure. Consider your box an air tank and you're going to go diving with it. It cannot flex (at all, anywhere) and it must be perfectly airtight. Consider the port as another woofer. Would you mount a woofer to a collage of 2x4s with gaps all around the edges?

Your fundamentals are flawed and you had best to take a few steps back and sort that out. You're trying to put curtains on the windows of a new house and you haven't even laid the foundation yet.

Finish it out an then you'll at least have something until you can get your head straightened out.

Take it from ME. Everyone talks shit. I've had some walls that were far from perfect. They may not have gotten approval from everyone on the forum, but they sure as hell impressed everyone i gave demo's to. I could do some good hair tricks with 2 18's, which is wayyyy more than anyone in the area could do.

Bro you gotta chill. Your trying to use scraps to build a wall in two days then freak the f out when it doesn't work. Walls take weeks to build correctly for the most part. And you keep ripping it down because even though your getting advise your still trying to do it your way and learn. Like roofing tape. Seriously never ever ever ever use that in your car. It is absolutely pointless and deadner per ft is about the same price really. Bro take a few days off. Pay for a box design and eat some xanax like skittles for a day or two and just breathe and chill. Your getting way too butt hurt over a Internet forum. These guys live and breathe this stuff and when you rush it and cut corners what do you expect them to say.....

Why not tell him the rest of the story? How many weeks (days?) was it before you were buying new equipment, talking about 18V then tearing everything out?

Your experience could be very instructional for him if you tell the whole story. Imagine if you had stuck to 2 18's and spent all the money and time you've spent since into making that 100%? You'd be bass racing 310-320 by now.

Did you ever tag that JB QT in the video (after she turned 18 of course)?

My first wall was a complete fail... to the point of ripping it out a few weeks after. I was so anxious to finish it, that I wasnt thinking out each step, or trying to optimize each step. So I ended up with a 4 15 wall that could barely do 150. Granted, it was only on 3k. But no 4 15 wall should ever struggle to break 150.

It struggled due to haphazard planning and execution... i was just doing testing yesterday; 148.8 on 1 12, so ya id say 4 15s at 150 was a waste of time

Ok well now i know that....just because i tried to use the tape doesnt mean i dont know shi t about car audio. So in the picture of that wall that hertz mafia posted since they used deadner to line the whole inside of the box they obviously don't know shi t either right? Yeah the tape i used isnt deadner but i have an open mind enough to give things a try. Ok it wasn't a good idea....all i have to do is peel it off and im right where i was before i put it on.....why the fuc k would you suggest i tear it down just because i tried using some tape? Makes no sense. And just because im not a master at wood working doesn't mean i can't build a fuc king wall......none of that was directed at you alex just so your aware. And thank you alex for understanding where I'm coming from. Don't any of you think outside the box every once in awhile? When everyone first started building walls in cars did they know how to properly brace it? No.....they had to figure it out and see what works and what doesnt work. See where im coming from?

I wasn't trying to do it my way.....i was trying to use what i have available on hand, because i don't have a job, i live with my parents, and i have no life and literally no friends, so thank you everyone for the help and advice you've given me....I'll think it over after i sell these 18's and tear out my pile of scraps that i was told was starting to look good

You're the one talking about tearing it all out, selling the 18s and shit. Seems like half your post in this thread are of you crying about how you can't do it and you're just gonna give up and tear it all out. Ain't nobody got time to listen to that crybaby bullshit. So fuck it, tear it all out, sell the equipment, and quit if you want to.

This isn't 1987, and you have the world's experience (via the internet) on your phone. You have been shown examples and been told by veterans how to do things right.

If you want to stray from the beaten path, no skin off our noses but don't come back here insinuating that we are steering you wrong.

Again, take a few steps back and sort things out. You're rushing, half arseing, and doing things out of order again, which is what failed you twice already. Make the shell bomb proof rigid and airtight, seal off the cabin solid then post up pics.
