Testing output

I was wondering if there's a way to test amp output with basic electronic skills. I know they test the amps before they leave the factory but I was wondering how they do it.

out of the car? Called bench testing, you need a power supply, clamp meter, and a dmm i think. I also believe a o-scope should be used too...don't quote me though...
