JL Audio 1000/1 paying for the name?

So I am looking for an amp. to power my 12" DVC Memphis s-class subs. Needs to be 500 RMS per sub at 4 ohms. The JL amp seems to fit but am I paying for the name and is there another amp that will give as clean of power for less?

If they are the Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm subs, just look for a cheap class D that puts out 1,000 watts RMS at 1 ohm. If they are the SVC 4 ohm subs, look for something that gives you 1,000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

Powering 2 subs. 4 ohm and they are dual voice coil. Is there a difference in amplifiers? I want a good quality amp. but I know there are lots of 1000 watt mono block or class d amps. out there. Looking to spend around 500 or less.

and yes you are paying for the jl name. you shouldnt have to spend more then 200 for a decent 1000rms amp

Does having flexibility in impedances under full power matter to you? If so, the Sundown won't be worth the same to you...

$200 is cheap. I would say about $350-$450 depending on where you buy it. This is for a good quality amp.

why not stick with memphis. jl amps not very eff. they run hot.

I think davidtemple is selling an Arc Audio ks 1000.1 for $325 or $350. It retails for $700.

I picked up a slash v2 jl audio 1000/1 monoblock for 425. Has more adjustability and I got a good price on it.

I'm gonna get a lot of hate on this...but do you think you're paying for the sundown name too??? I mean, honestly, would someone really tell the difference between the 1000watt sundown, or the on sale AQ1200??

Maybe, maybe not. I paid less than $200 for my AP15001D. AP is quite a good company, judging by the way that some people talk about it on here.
